British International School Gdańsk

Welcome to BISG Secondary

Bilingual Departments

This is a bilingual class with English as the language of instruction, where all subjects are taught in English except for the Polish language, and the history and geography of Poland.

Our Curriculum

We primarily use our own BISG programs, which are in line with the  Polish national curriculum.

In our secondary school, we bridge the Polish and international curricula with bilingual education, aligning the Polish National Curriculum to international standards for classes 10-11 (1-2 LO).

As an IB candidate school, our inquiry-based teaching fosters conceptual understanding, collaboration, and continuous assessment. English is the primary language of instruction, complemented by a robust academic and extracurricular program.

Our approach to education is based on several key principles that sets us apart from other schools. We aim to provide a comprehensive education focused on developing versatile, reflective, and conscious global citizens.

Extra-curricular Activities

Model United Nations

Our school actively participates in UN simulation conferences, allowing students to develop diplomatic and debating skills on an international platform.

STEM Fair

We organize annual STEM fairs where students present their projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Public Speaking

Students have the opportunity to participate in Oxford-style debates and TEDx-style student talks, enhancing their argumentation and public speaking skills.

Cross-Curricular

Teachers collaboratively plan interdisciplinary projects that help students understand the connections between topics and their real-life context.

Integration Trips

We organise integration trips, during which the entire class has opportunity to get to know each other better and bond.

Language Trips

Students can participate in language trips to countries such as Spain, France, or Germany, allowing them to apply their language skills in authentic contexts.

Theatre Performances

We organize theatre performances where our students perform on real theatre stages, developing their acting talents and creativity.

Special BISG
Musical Productions

BISG puts on an annual musical production, which includes our entire school community – from students, to staff to parents.

BISG – Secondary School is a Candidate School* for the IB Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that BISG believes is important for our students.

*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org

Modern Foreign Languages

At BISG, we understand the importance of multilingualism as a gateway to success on an international stage and so, even though English is our primary language for teaching, we highly value the first languages of our students as well as other languages they will acquire with us.

All students learn Polish alongside one of the three other languages offered: Spanish, French and German.
